What is Capital Factory?
Capital Factory is the center of gravity for entrepreneurs in Texas, the number one state for startups in the U.S. Thousands of entrepreneurs, programmers, and designers gather day and night, in-person and online, for meetups, classes, and coworking. With boots on the ground in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, we meet the best entrepreneurs in Texas and introduce them to investors, employees, mentors, and customers. According to Pitchbook, Capital Factory has been the most active early-stage investor in Texas since 2010.
What is Health Supernova?
If you’re working in health or biotech, it’s the place to be! Health Supernova is a brand-new event by Capital Factory created to catalyze the health tech community in Texas — and beyond. It’s two days (okay, one night, one day) where the hottest priorities and players in health tech take center stage to share insights, breakthroughs, and big opportunities ahead.
Health Supernova 2022, presented by UT Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center, delivers unmatched access across the health tech ecosystem so you can build relationships with investors, mentors, customers, even potential hires, and get smart on the hottest topics in health, medicine, and biotech.
Why was Health Supernova created?
In the nascent biotech ecosystem, billions of investment dollars are pouring in. Across the sector, everyone is eager to accelerate innovation and growth. Capital Factory is all in, with a growing health tech portfolio and powerful network to spark meaningful connections among health tech entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and corporate partners. With so much noise and competition, we saw a clear opportunity to present trending technologies and paths forward across the ecosystem. That’s why we created Health Supernova.
How is this event different from other health/biotech events?
In two words: scale and intent. While there are certainly other health innovation events out there — and people working on this stuff every day — we created this event based on a model that works and brings many of the right people together. It’s uncommon to find this diverse group of participants and this type of content in one place. Health Supernova exists to do that, all with the goal of adding collaborative fuel to the fire of health innovation.
When is the event taking place?
Health Supernova, presented by presented by UT Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center, kicks off with a Startup Crawl and Launch Party on May 9, 2022, followed by a full day of networking and amazing content and speakers on May 10, 2022.
Where is the event located?
The in-person components of Health Supernova happen at Pegasus Park in Dallas, with options to view sessions online if you are unable to physically attend. Pegasus Park is an exceptional facility tailormade for healthcare and biotech companies that need state-of-the-art lab and office space as well as incubator services. Home to our Center for Health Innovation, Pegasus Park is also Capital Factory’s new home in Dallas, and we can’t wait to LAUNCH into this cutting-edge space!
What sort of topics are covered?
Health Supernova content is informed by leaders in the space as well as the mavericks who are changing the game. We’ll have three tracks of learning to cover the hottest topics and technologies. Among the possibilities: Improvements in medical supply chains and hospital systems. Web3, digital and mental health solutions for preventative healthcare, EHR, and data science. Robots, medical devices, and diagnostic solutions. Human-machine and brain-computer interfaces. Genomic, synthetic biology, and pharma solutions. Just to name a few!
What is an Investment Showcase? Is this a pitch competition?
This is not a pitch competition. Capital Factory’s Venture team hosts Investment Showcases for selected sectors — such as healthcare, defense, and underrepresented founders — whereby we work to partner and invest in qualifying startups.
Investment Showcases are campaigns and events we hold to intentionally grow our portfolio. This event is about bringing together the right elements for health innovation — innovators, mentors, investors, partners. You’ll be able to meet and hear from all of them, including founders and entrepreneurs, during the Startup Crawl and Health Supernova sessions. During Health Supernova 2022, presented by UT Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center, Capital Factory will announce new investments in connection with our Biotech+ Investment Showcase and present five (5) startups to an audience of healthcare professionals.
Who attends Health Supernova?
Leading entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, and decision-makers from around the world will attend Health Supernova. Why? Because time is money, and it takes way too much time to make connections across health innovation right now. While everyone may arrive with their own agendas, this event is the one place they can come to truly understand the possibilities. It’s the perfect way to validate rising market trends, slash the time it takes to identify viable partners and investments, and tell your story to people eager to find new ideas and partners.
How many people will be there?
This year — the first Health Supernova ever — will be a (relatively) small and focused affair. The Startup Crawl on May 9 and Health Supernova on May 10 will each cater to 200 general admission attendees and 100 VIP attendees in person at Pegasus Park. For those who can’t make it in person, we have space for up to 2,000 participants to join us online!
If you want to attend in Dallas, register soon!
Is this event just for startups, or can larger companies participate, too?
Not only can you attend, but we can’t wait to see you there. After all, health and biotech innovation often depend on larger companies that can help bridge the gap between what projects need and what smaller companies can deliver. When we talk about new partnerships, we are looking at you. So attend, submit an abstract to speak, support the event as a sponsor — the path you choose is up to you, but we definitely want you to be a part of this event.
